Central Office staff work closely with schools, offering a wealth of expertise to underpin schools’ own knowledge. **The Role**

**Contract type**: Permanent, full time, 37.5 hours per week, flexible working.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Information Governance Officer to support the Group’s Data Privacy and Information Governance related activities. We are looking for a suitably qualified individual with specialist knowledge of Information Governance legislation including Data Protection Act 2018, the UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Freedom of Information Act 2000. You will be regularly advising senior colleagues from across our schools and central office and will play a key role in ensuring the Group’s compliance with information governance legislation. You will be a strong communicator & be comfortable dealing with all levels in a fast-paced environment, often under pressure, remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful and efficient, with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality. You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, know how to influence and persuade, be able to manage a busy and varied workload and demonstrate attention to detail in everything you do.

**Main Responsibilities**
- Managing all centrally received requests under the data protection and freedom of information regulations and providing support and advice to our schools in these fields.
- Reviewing and maintaining data protection impact assessments.
- Supporting the Data Protection Officer (DPO) as a key contact, working with senior colleagues and establishing positive relationships with the Data Protection Leads and Head Teachers in our schools.
- Assist with updating policies, training materials and data sharing agreements.
- Co-ordinating staff data protection training.
- Maintaining the Group’s information governance databases.
- Assist the DPO with monitoring school compliance through desk-based audits, co-ordination and analysis of self-assessments and following up on open audit actions.
- Input into the production of compliance reports and maintenance of the information governance risk register

Experience and qualifications:

- At least 3 years’ experience working in a similar role.
- Knowledge of Freedom of Information and Data Protection legislation.
- Relevant certification in data privacy.
- An understanding of risk management principles.

- Resilient, able to work at high pace in a changing environment.
- Equipped with excellent computer skills including advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Teams, PowerPoint & Word and the ability to quickly learn new systems - you will know how to effectively engage with technology to drive change as well as to organise.
- A positive and professional can-do attitude and willingness to learn ‘on the job’ are a must.

The role will be based in our Peterborough office two days a week and three days a week from home. There may be occasional travel to our schools and other offices.
