**Vacancy: Permanent full time Lead Chaplain**

**Location: Greater Manchester**

**Greater Manchester Police are looking to appoint a permanent Lead Chaplain to coordinate, manage and develop Chaplaincy activities throughout Greater Manchester Police. T he Chaplain’s role is a supportive and pastoral one offeringsupport to officers and staff. In this role you will seek to build a relationship of acceptance, friendship and trust with officers and staff and offer a source of comfort during times of stress.**

**Chaplains need to be good listeners and have confidence to go into a police station and initiate conversations with those who are working there. We would hope that you have some skills of compassion and non-judgmental appraisal of an individual’ssituation. We offer verbal support, aswell as sign-posting to other means of help, such as police charities, or encouraging people to seek professional help.**

**Main duties of the job**
- **To be the principal point of reference for spiritual and religious care to all faiths within GMP. To be GMP’s expert, providing professional advice and training on all issues pertaining to and supporting all levels of staff.**:

- **To be responsible for the strategic organisation, development, implementation and evaluation of GMP’s Chaplaincy Services.**:

- **To act as key communications / interface link externally between GMP and all faith communities within the community; local and national spirituality forums; the regional and national organisations for Chaplaincy in the Police force.**:

- **To be a lead for all volunteer chaplains throughout GMP, t o enable us to truly reflect the communities we serve, we are keen to recruit people from other Faith Groups representative within Greater Manchester Police. You will needa deep knowledge and experience of your Faith/Religion which will enhance the pastoral care of our diverse officers**:

- **To uphold GMP values and standards.**:

- **Be able to integrate with all GMP personnel, both police officers and police staff.**:

- **Be able to respond to any critical incidents.**:

- **Be flexible, with hours of work and have the ability to travel with the Greater Manchester area.**
