**Talent Management Specialist**
**Salary**: £34,834 - £38,223 per annum
**Contract Type**: Fixed Term for 36 months
**Location**: A mixture of home working and office based (Mobile Hybrid Worker)

- To take the lead in the development of new and creative talent management strategies and practices with the aim of attracting, retaining and developing talented individuals to a diverse range of business critical positions across the Council.
- Work collaboratively with our leaders and managers to gain a comprehensive understanding of their workforce requirements in the short, medium and long term and develop initiatives to support this.
- To build networks and positive relationships with relevant stakeholders to attract, retain and develop an engaged high quality workforce.
- Work with our Future of Work Team and Learning Training and Development Team to ensure that our full employment offer is in line with us being an ‘employer of choice’.
- Develop data sets to enable the work of the Talent Management Team is tracked to ensure it is delivering suitable and relevant initiatives and is line with the Talent Management Strategy/ Strategic Workforce Plan
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Take a lead role in developing and implementing innovative talent management strategies and initiatives for varied roles across the Authority to attract, retain and develop our workforce.
- Utilise knowledge to explore imaginative talent management initiatives including using information from internal sources (succession planning toolkits and service recovery plans) to ensure all initiatives meet the needs of the services going forward.
- Proactively construct relationships with stakeholders such as colleges, universities and the Department for Work and Pensions to ensure we attract, retain and develop an engaged high quality workforce
- Work collaboratively with our leaders and managers to gain a comprehensive understanding of their workforce requirements in the short, medium and long term and develop initiatives to support this.
- Collaborate with assigned Managers/Supervisors to ensure follow up on recommendations outlined in Performance Reviews and Individual Training Needs Assessments
- Develop a generic career grade scheme to support our leaders and managers to ‘grow their own’ future workforce to include ‘business critical roles’ with the ability for it to be tailored to specific service needs
- Work with our leaders an managers to:
- Support them with their recruitment documentation which is engaging and written in plain English to ensure potential applicants understand the requirements of the job.
- support them to identify, build relationships with and attract future talent
- provide advice on succession planning in order for them to identify their ‘business critical’ roles and to identify future talent and develop a development plan for the short, medium and long term
- Take a lead role in our Organisational Development Project Board and proactively work to complete the tasks allocated within the Talent Management Strategy.
- Develop and maintain data sets to ensure we are able to evaluate the success of our talent management initiatives.
- To attend meetings and working groups, both internally and externally, providing verbal updates and/or presentations in respect of the work of the Talent Management Team.
- Encourage more open conversations around career progression across the organisation and develop initiatives to support this
- To work alongside the wider HR Team and ensure all talent management initiatives are communicated to them, with a view to them being integrated into mainstream HR activities.
- Liaise with the Learning, Training and Development Team to develop training plans to support the development of those in, or potentially capable of moving into, business critical roles
- Produce management information reports when requested by stakeholders
- Be aware of and support diversity
- Contribute to the overall ethos/work/aims of the Authority.

Who you are?
Ideally you will be CIPD qualified and a Chartered Member. However, what is more important to us is that you have experience of talent management initiatives and are able to work with our leaders and managers to help them create attractive talent management initiatives.
