**How you'll make a difference**:
The Skills Team supports young people and adults to develop their personal skills and qualifications. They enable them to progress into and develop within their employment, so they can make a positive contribution to the South Gloucestershire community. The team works collaboratively with wider Council services, such as children’s services and public health.

As a Career Navigator you will support young people and adults with a learning difficulty to participate in employment and career development, learning and training. The role will act as a key interface between specialist internal and external services including lead professionals helping clients overcome barriers and achieve positive outcomes.

**What will you be doing?**
- It will be key for you to develop a good working relationship with service users. You will create an action plan and identify suitable career paths and a learning programme for each individual.
- You will provide support to young people and adults both pre-employment and during work, helping to seek development opportunities and liaise with service providers to identify opportunities.
- You are responsible for liaising with service users appropriately and ensuring they receive a good level of service, escalating queries where required.
- You will help service users to complete their employment, education or training support, and remain a point of contact for any follow up discussions.

**What we need from you**:

- You must be educated to a minimum of 5 GCSEs (Grades A-C), or equivalent including English and maths, or have relevant experience in a similar role.
- It is essential that you have experience of working with people who have learning disabilities, the barriers they face and the skill to break down those barriers, whilst paying particular attention to their needs and aspirations.
- You will have experience of developing and maintaining relationships with employers to find and support appropriate career progression opportunities.
- It is preferred, but not essential, for you to have an IAG or adult teaching qualification, or be willing to undertake additional training.

Please note that due to the nature of this role it is a requirement of employment that an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is obtained for this post.
