Assistant/trainee Driller

South West Geotechnical Ltd is an innovative and approachable ground investigation consultant and contractor based in Tiverton, Devon. We are looking to recruit an Assistant Land Driller to join our drilling team. The role will include working with both our window sample and rotary drilling teams, predominantly across the south west, but also nationally.
**The role involves**:
- Assisting lead drillers in providing high quality ground investigation boreholes
- Accurately follow instructions from Lead Driller(s) and senior staff
- Preparing and mobilising specialist drilling equipment to site
- Routine and preventative maintenance of drilling equipment
- Work closely with Site Engineers and Project Managers
- Follow all appropriate UK Health and Safety Guidelines
- Involvement with other aspects of the company (laboratory testing, in-situ testing sampling and monitoring)
- Regular staying away Mon-Fri (overnight allowance and accommodation provided)
Our business is based around delivering high quality, professional ground investigations on time and on budget, and the drilling assistant can have a key impact on the overall business operation. We are looking for a practical, hardworking, dedicated individual with a great team-work ethic, who enjoys hands-on outdoor work to assist the whole business as well as the drilling team.
**Experience and Qualifications**
Experience working within UK drilling and or construction related industries would be beneficial but not essential. Applicants should hold a UK manual driving licence. Full training will be provided.
Essential attributes for the role are being physically fit (regularly lifting heavy equipment) a willingness to work outdoors in all weathers, being self-motivated, punctual and have an eagerness to learn and overcome problems as they present themselves.

42.5hr week with further overtime payments
