Medical Typist

We have a great opportunity to join our warm and friendly Vascular Administrative service as a Medical Typist where you will need fast and accurate audio typing skills and a sound knowledge of medical terminology to be able to provide a high quality clinical typing service to a team of Consultants supporting the Divisional Patient Pathway Coordinators.

Your role will be responsible for typing clinic letters, reports and other clinical correspondence in line with the Trust’s contractual key performance indicators (KPIs), following standard operating procedures, which describe how the functions of the role will be carried out along with given timescales and key performance indicators that will be adhered to.

You will work as part of a team providing cover for colleagues during sickness and annual leave where appropriate, including providing typing support in other departments.

Your role will involve audio typing of clinical letters, operation notes and discharge summaries as directed by the Patient Pathway Coordinator to meet divisional specific KPI in relation to turnaround targets ensuring a high standard of accuracy and quality.

You will ensure that all correspondences are dispatched promptly to patients, GP’s and other health care providers as required within agreed timeframes and that all letters and correspondences received for typing are prioritised in an accurate and efficient manner for example in date or urgency order.
