Your new role

National Highways have an excellent opportunity for a Structures Inspector Manager to join our team in the Yorkshire North East region. The Structures Inspector Manager will provide management and direction to Specialist Inspection Team and supply chain,providing guidance and defining the work of the team to ensure delivery of inspections and collection of asset data in line with relevant standards. The Structures Inspector Manager will ensure collection of appropriate information to allow the assets to bemaintained safely and effectively through improvements, renewals, reactive and cyclical maintenance. The role may have on duty responsibilities and may be required to work unsociable hours.

You will be required to drive as part of your role and you will need to have a full clean driving license to be considered for this position and during employment

What you’ll be leading on

To ensure the health and safety needs and wellbeing of customers and employees are fully considered and accounted for throughout the planning and delivery of each service activity.
To provide line management and for a team of Specialist Inspectors, ensuring timely setting of objectives, performance management reviews, development of appropriate succession and development plans.
To manage the utilisation and allocation of team resources to ensure appropriate resourcing levels for all the activities in scope, including managing duty responsibilities for specialist advice for related asset at incidents.
To identify team or individual capability requirements and gaps, ensuring that required knowledge and competence is maintained at all times, so that the team can operate effectively to deliver current and future work.
To ensure planning, delivery and reporting on all inspections schedules in line with agreed timescales, budgets and procedures and to ensure that all inspection findings are recorded in the relevant systems and meet data capture standards.
To manage the delivery of timely inspections for asset repairs, and ensure that any delays, reoccurring quality issues or concerns are resolved or escalated, as appropriate.
To facilitate positive and collaborative ways of working with internal and external stakeholders, such as Engineering team, Service Delivery teams and 3rd party supply chain, in order to share knowledge, collaborative planning, and ultimately contribute tothe overall improvement of the customer experience.
To proactively seek out and act on feedback from customers and stakeholders (e.g. Local Authorities, Network Rail, Canal & River Trust and land owners) in order to improve service delivery and customer experience; to provide, as required, information to supportcustomer and stakeholder queries, claims and correspondence.
To contribute to joint performance reviews with 3rd party Service Providers and internal colleagues (e.g. Planning and Development, Programme Delivery, Service Delivery and Quality & Performance Assurance teams) to understand performance trends, identify risks,root causes for performance issues and develop remedial action plans.
Where necessary to be available for on-call duty responsibilities, attending incident sites and providing advice.
To continuously identify opportunities for efficiencies, working closely with internal and external stakeholders to implement ideas.
To be Successful

Experience in planning and delivering a programme of General, Principal, Special and Pre Opening Structures Inspections.
Extensive experience of undertaking Inspections.
Proficient in recognising and categorising defects and maintenance needs of the asset and providing clear recommendations on maintenance interventions to remedy defects identified from inspections.
Experience of managing staff and supply chain.
A sound understanding of asset databases and data capture devices used for asset management.
Good understanding of the CDM Regulations.
