**Job Purpose**
The Project Officer will lead, coordinate and/or deliver on several short-term projects and/or workstreams in each of the 3 teams in the Governance, Policy and Integrity portfolio - the PGR Policy Team, the Research Governance and Integrity team, and the Research Policy and Planning team. This would be an opportunity for an organised, motivated and project-oriented individual to work across these distinct but inter-related teams which support researchers across the University. The postholder will be an effective team player, willing to use their initiative to contribute to a range of tasks on projects key to the University’s research policy landscape, providing an agile and client focused service to all stakeholders, and working effectively with colleagues across the institution.
This post would be ideal for someone wanting to undertake a secondment into Research Services and understand more about what it is like to use your skills to support projects in a dynamic central research office.

**Main Duties and Responsibilities**
1. Develop and deliver agreed aspects of projects, working in coordination with line manager and portfolio team managers and with colleagues in Colleges and other University Services as needed. Provide a broad spectrum of project management and administrative leadership in undertaking project work, conducting desk-based research, writing briefing notes or other supporting documentation or reporting, coordinating or leading meetings or working groups in support of projects.
2. Work with the Research Strategy and Policy Manager to design and deliver a comprehensive institutional research policy review, mapping the internal policy landscape, reviewing policy tone and content to suggest updates or consolidation, establishing ownership of policies, setting up and communicating an agreed process for ongoing policy review and developing web pages or other approaches to dissemination / communication of research-supporting policies.
3. Work with the Research Governance and Integrity Manager to develop and execute communication plans and develop online resources for the Code of Good Practice in Research re-launch and for the Trusted Research / Export Control agenda.
5. Support the University’s REF preparations, in particular working alongside colleagues in Research Services, PIA and the Colleges to identify, source and provide relevant research data as part of ongoing work around available data and analytical tools.
6. Supporting the teams with data audit, review, analysis or presentation as required to report on project activities or support the broader efforts of the portfolio.
7. Supporting the teams with committee and project board work, in particular contributing to the organisation and coordination of Research Planning and Strategy Committee (RPSC) business, including collating and managing agendas, papers and reports, liaising with committee members, managing committee membership and meeting logistics and/or taking responsibility for pursuing assigned action points arising from committee business or developing early stages papers for committee review.
8. Using expertise developed in the pursuit of project work, deputise for team managers, representing Research Services as needed ,acting as a professional ambassador for the team, Research Services and/or the University, demonstrating the values of the University and generously sharing good practice.
9. Undertake other duties as required to meet the needs of the team or more broadly within Research Services. Contribute to the development of an efficient and responsive office within the framework of the University’s mission and strategies, processes, procedures, and systems. Contribute to team meetings, planning, joint initiatives and projects, and the ongoing development of the team.

**Essential**:

A1 Scottish Credit and Qualification Framework level 9, (Ordinary Degree, Scottish Vocational Qualification level 4) or equivalent, (including professional accreditation with the relevant formal training), and experience of personal development in a similar or related role. Or, the ability to demonstrate the competencies required to undertake the duties associated with this level of post having acquired the necessary knowledge and skills in a similar or number of different roles.

**Desirable**:

B1 Understanding of HE policy and practice landscape in the UK, and relevant governance, policy, structures and operations related to supporting researchers, including postgraduate researchers.
B2 Understanding of a wide range of University processes, procedures and services, policies, and systems to enable working knowledgeably across projects.
