**Job Overview**
- To support compliance, culinary and operational teams with technical and nutritional expertise
- To use key software to efficiently calculate and create nutritional and allergen reports for airline customers

**Main Duties & Responsibilities**
- Ensure all required information is compiled and provided to the customer within established timelines.
- Data entry into software and dissemination of data to enable airline passengers with dietary requirements to make a safe and reasoned choice from the available menus
- Entering data into nutrition software to calculate intake per meal/product
- Approve supplier specifications (ingredient, composite ingredients and pre-packaged food) to ensure those meet legal labelling requirements, and further ensure any restricted foodstuffs are identified prior to menu launch.
- Liaise with supplier(s) to address any concerns that may arise during the specification review.
- Work closely with Menu Development and Customer Services to ensure Customer specific requirements are met, e.g. restricted ingredients, religious requirements or nutritional profiles.
- Assist with liaison with internal and external customers (e.g. Menu Development, Procurement, Operations, Airline Customers, Suppliers, etc.).
- Good written communication including report writing, presentation of information and conclusions.
- Provide relevant coaching and training to individuals and teams within the business.
- Audit of internal procedures and suppliers for compliance to legal and company requirements.
- Attend and participate in relevant meetings.
- Participate in projects.

**Education**
- Educated to a minimum of degree level (ideally Food Science/Technology) or equivalent work experience within the food industry

**Work Experience**
- Ideally, experience of at least 1 year working in the food industry in a NPD/Technical function or be a university/college leaver having had some relevant experience in the food industry.

**Skills & Knowledge**
- Good knowledge of Food Law including Food labelling regulations
- Good knowledge in nutrition UK and EU Food Information Regulation
- Good understanding of the composition of foods. Interest in food preparation/cooking would be highly beneficial
- Good working knowledge of finished product specifications, with exposure to writing specifications or/and approving finished product and raw material specifications (Liaise with procurement/manufacturers to ensure details are completed accurately within the deadlines).
- Food safety level 3 (CIEH)
- Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal.
- Experience and ability in compiling and presenting management reports.
- Tenacious and flexible attitude.
- Computer literate with very good understanding of MS Excel and other MS Office programmes.
- Experience with nutrition calculation programmes (Nutritics)
- Open to assisting with training of employees in nutrition and allergens.
- Ability to manage workload effectively, be organised with attention to detail and meet deadlines, sometimes under time pressure.
- The ability to work under own initiative and as part of a team environment.
- Confident, clear communication skills required to enable a strong interaction with individuals at all levels both internally and externally.
- Attention to detail, critical thinking and problem solving skills are essential.
- A flexible and resourceful approach to completing projects/work activities is essential together with the ability to assess situations, multitask and meet deadlines are qualities which are essential to the success of this role.
