**Applications are invited from experienced, self-motivated Early Years Professionals to work within the Early Years Portage team**

**The successful applicant will**:

- Have experience of using Portage methods; preferably having completed a Portage basic workshop or/and be prepared to commit to job related training which may be local, out of area, or online as required.
- Be able to demonstrate a secure knowledge and understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and the Early Years Foundation Stage Statutory Framework
- Have experience of working with parents/ carers and families, supporting their role as first educators of their children
- Have excellent communication and listening skills and the ability to motivate and empower parents/carers to achieve positive outcomes for their children
- Be highly motivated and passionate about improving outcomes for vulnerable children
- Be willing to work on a flexible basis to meet the needs of service users, with the ability to work from home when necessary.
- Have sound knowledge and experience of safeguarding and the ability to consult with parents/carers and professionals as required.
- Be experienced in and keen to further develop, joint working arrangements with other professionals working with young children and their families.
- Be proficient in maintaining electronic records and preparing reports as required (using current IT packages) that will contribute to evidence gathering.
- Be able to transport themselves and teaching materials/equipment safely and efficiently around the city of Hull. The post involves working in families’ homes and outreach venues.
- Be able to safely lift and position children with complex needs/disabilities.
