SYNLAB UK & Ireland have extensive experience of working in partnership with the NHS to deliver and improve pathology services through its existing pathology joint ventures - including Southwest Pathology Services (SPS).

Our team at SPS have been fundamental to the principle of making a positive difference to healthcare within Somerset for 10 years. We have a new job opportunity for an IT Assistant to join our team on a 6-month fixed term contract, based at our Southwest Pathology Services Hub Laboratory in Taunton.

**Hours**: 37.5 hours per week, 9am-5pm, Monday - Friday.

**Responsibilities**:

- To support Pathology IT with creation of orderable pathology tests in the ICE OrderComms system by following Standard Operating Procedures as directed by pathology IT.
- Recording progress as directed into relevant spreadsheets.
- To carry out User Acceptance Testing of the ICE OrderComms system by following Standard Operating Procedures as directed by pathology IT.
- To provide technical assistance to company staff.
- Maintaining accurate and complete IT documentation.

**Essential Skills and Experience**:

- Good level of computer literacy and knowledge and experience of using MS-Excel spreadsheets and MS-Word.
- Good degree of accuracy & numeracy.
- Good communication skills.
- Good developed interpersonal and team working abilities.
- Ability to manage time to best advantage
- Ability to adapt efficiently to change.

**Desirable**:

- Experience of working in a pathology lab environment.
