**LOCATION**: Remote Working + travel around Cheshire East and West

**ACCOUNTABLE TO**: Information and Advice Coordinator

The Information & Advice (I&A) Community Advisor will promote and deliver I&A outreach work across Cheshire, primarily the Crewe and Nantwich areas. This will include home visits and drop-in sessions, plus engaging volunteer support. The post holder will be responsible for building relationships and partnership working with a variety of stakeholders. The Community Advisor will be part of an established team providing a recognised quality standard of service to older people in Cheshire.

**JOB DESCRIPTION**

**SERVICE DELIVERY**:
1 Delivery of community based I&A sessions and form filling through building
a network of stakeholders and links.

3 Work to build on existing relationships with identified and deprived communities to provide an I&A community service to improve access to benefits and reduce older people’s poverty.

4 To complete all required recording and client records in accordance with the standards set by the Information and Advice Quality Programme
(IAQP) and external Advice Quality Standard (AQS) and always adhere to
Age UK Cheshire’s policy on Confidentiality & Data Protection and client consent.

5 To attend appropriate training and supervision sessions as required and report regularly to the Line Manager according to agreed standards.

6 To provide support, occasional holiday cover and updates for I&A staff to promote positive team working amongst the staff and volunteer group as a whole.

7 To work with the Service Manager to ensure that all project targets and activities are achieved.

a. Experience of working with the public.

d. Experience of effectively using a client management system and recording of data

e. Excellent interpersonal skills

f. Clear understanding of the issues affecting the lives of older people and their carers.

g. Experience of partnership working

h. Clear understanding of the difficulties faced by disadvantaged groups in accessing services.

i. Ability to work independently, whilst also being a positive and supportive team member

j. Effective communication skills, both written and oral, including case recording skills and experience of producing written reports.

k. Good organisational skills, I.T. skills, including use of databases.

m. Ability to travel freely across Cheshire - access to a car for work purposes.

**ADDITIONAL INFORMATION**

**HOURS**: The hours of work for this role are 21.75 per week (work pattern to be agreed)

**FUNDING**: This post currently has funding for 3 years. Age UK Cheshire will endeavour to secure further funding to continue the service beyond this time.

**HOLIDAY ** **ENTITLEMENT**:
From the 1st January to 31st December the basic annual entitlement for
full time employees is 25 days, plus an entitlement to Public Bank Holidays and a discretionary entitlement to 1 extra day awarded by the Trustees.
Part time staff will have their entitlement pro-rated according to the number of hours they are contracted to work.
