We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed person to join our voluntary services team and deliver a new digital volunteering project that aims to involve young people in volunteering and those who may experience barriers to volunteering in their community. This is a short-term role with the potential to have a big impact on the lives of young people and support patients, carers and families affected by Cancer. You will need to be able to engage with young people and inspire their involvement in roles developed around the use of iPads, so it will be beneficial to have some knowledge in this area or be keen to learn. Volunteer Recruitment

Respond to all volunteer enquiries from potential applicants wishing to volunteer to support the Digital volunteer project

Advertise and promote the benefits of this role, liaising with the communications team and external bodies as appropriate active volunteer roles with appropriate recruitment sites

Ensure all volunteering related data is managed, stored and organized in line with Trust information governance standards, GDPR and Data Protection Laws.

Ensure all IT equipment is stored and managed securely, returned by volunteers at the end of each shift

Arrange informal interviews or recruitment events to assess suitability of volunteers for this role.

Engage with internal stakeholders to promote the service and identify potential referral routes

Ensure all references for new volunteers are returned and robust recruitment checks completed.

Collate learning materials for volunteer training session and measure the impact of learning.

All administration linked to the successful running of the volunteer service.

Learning and Development

Delivery of digital volunteer training and induction to ensure compliance with learning outcomes.

Participate in own learning around best practice of volunteer management to strengthen support to department.

Engagement

Alongside the Volunteer Services Team, create relevant information documents to support effective and safe delivery of this service.

Advise supervisors on best practice models to engage with their volunteers.

Contribute to the wider volunteering discussions through the volunteer forums and share best practice.

Work with Head of Volunteer Services on collecting/editing stories.

Engage with various internal and external stakeholders on the annual volunteers week celebrations in June.

Work with volunteers in the team to dispatch birthday/Christmas cards or messages.
