**About the function
**Human Resources (HR) provides support on all people-related issues for Network Rail. We’re responsible for creating an environment that attracts and engages high-performing individuals to deliver engineering and operational excellence for Britain’s railway. Our approach is a pragmatic one, challenging where appropriate and professional in all areas of delivery.

**Brief Description**:
**What does the average day look like?***

As a Systems Thinking Specialist you will:

- Engage with stakeholders, including executives and senior leaders to determine and agree the feasibility of commissioning systems thinking interventions, by coordinating of cross-functional team to scope business issues, determine and agree improvement priorities. Establish leadership buy-in to a system thinking approach and maintain local senior sponsorship for operating model delivery and continuous improvement performance management frameworks**.**
- Lead the analysis of the performance of complex systems across a range of environments, with key stakeholders to identify the scope to re-design for improvements.
- Lead and develop multi-disciplinary teams to experiment with re-designed operating models and end-to-end systems, against agreed performance measures in order to determine viability of wider business deployment. This includes commercial, controls and having a robust plan.
- Establish and maintain governance arrangements for the delivery of projects, defining clear roles, responsibilities and accountabilities that align with organisational practice. Managing project reviews at appropriate points throughout the project lifecycle which will inform governance decisions of projects by providing evaluations of progress, performance, risk, contingency and continuing relevance.
- Implement and manage resource allocation plans needed for delivery of the project including identification and management of critical resource requirements. Secure resources needed for projects from internal and external sources.

**What essential skills and experiences are required?**
- Demonstrable experience managing complex change initiatives
- Be able to travel nationally on a regular basis, often staying overnight
- Educated to degree level in a relevant discipline or equivalent demonstrable experience, e.g. change
- management, business analysis, project or programme management
- Demonstrable experience in business improvement and business change management approaches
- with associated qualifications
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills all levels. This should include
- Customers, 3rd party representatives, internal frontline teams, and executive leaders
- Successful relevant experience in a complex project environment including demonstrable experience
- in team management, planning, and delivery of projects.
- Proven ability or qualification in analysing and evaluating complex data to drive decision making
- Advanced influencing, negotiation and relationship building / partnering skills with both internal and
- external suppliers
- Experience in managing (directly or indirectly) cross-functional teams in a customer-focused
- environment with evidence of enabling teams to meet their challenges
- Demonstrable commitment to learning systems thinking to independently diagnose systems, design
- and run interventions to transform business operating models from an end user perspective

We would also like, but not essential:

- Formal qualifications in project and programme management methodologies (including delivering
- projects using ‘managing successful programmes’ and/or ‘agile’
- Knowledge and experience in HR disciplines
- Formal qualifications in change management
- Formal qualification in data analysis
