Litchdon Medical Centre is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated qualified dispenser to join the dispensary team in our busy GP surgery. The role is to dispense and deal with patients dispensing queries and give support to the clinical team regarding medication. You will need to have a dispensing qualification and customer service experience and have good communication skills as you will be expected to deal with patients, staff members and outside organisations e.g other pharmacies. You will need to be flexible to cover the varied aspects of the role and cover colleagues as required. Working pattern of 18 hours per week over 2 days. Working Thursdays and Fridays from 8.30am - 6.00pm.

Salary between £10.50 - £11.18 depending on experience and qualifications.

**RESPONSIBLE TO: Dispensary Manager**

**ACCOUNTABLE TO: The Practice Manager**

**OVERALL PURPOSE: Providing a good service to those dispensing patients registered with the surgery.**

**SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE POST**:

- Dispensary qualification
- An understanding, acceptance and adherence to the need for strict confidentiality.
- Computer literacy skills.
- The ability to work under pressure.
- An ability to use own judgement, resourcefulness and common sense to respond to patients’ enquiries and requests.
- Excellent communication and telephone skills.
- Commitment to high standard of patient care.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Liaison with external agencies and patients.
- Dispense medicines to patients.
- On request supply medical/surgical sundries, lotions and drugs to maintain treatment and consulting rooms.
- To meet targets set by performance appraisal at annual review.
- Compliance with practice health and safety requirements.
- Dispensary stock control.
- Accurate recording in the Controlled Drugs Register.
- Attending departmental meetings.
- Other duties as required by the line manager.

**OBJECTIVES**:

- Project positive & friendly image to patients & other visitors, either in person or via the telephone.
- To complete duties with the guidelines of Dispensary Managers.
- To provide excellent service to customers.
- Establish strong and positive working relationship with other dispensary team members and the other departments at Litchdon Medical Centre.
- Computer data entry/data allocation and collation; processing and recording information in accordance with Practice procedures.

- Using personal security systems within the workplace according to Practice guidelines
- Identifying the risks involved in work activities and undertaking such activities in a way that manages those risks
- Making effective use of training to update knowledge and skills
- Using appropriate infection control procedures, maintaining work areas in a tidy and safe way and free from hazards
- Reporting potential risks identified
