**Purpose of the role**:
The Collections Claims Handler role involves the negotiation and settlement of credit hire invoices with at-fault insurers following non-fault motor traffic accidents. Day-to-day, you will take ownership of your own caseload which will involve keeping clients up-to-date and negotiating financial settlements with insurers both over the phone and via written correspondence.
**Main responsibilities**:
Confident negotiation with third parties in order to achieve successful settlement results
Pro-actively make outbound calls to insurers to discuss cases and agree settlement terms
Application of relevant case law and credit hire principles in order to settle cases
To hit both individual and team weekly and monthly targets for cash collection to ensure consistent cash flow into the business
To proactively identify cases where we cannot reach an amicable agreement with third party insurers and refer to the litigation team to issue legal proceedings
To effectively keep clients up-to-date with the recovery process to ensure their cooperation should we need it to issue legal proceedings against the third party insurer
Comprehensively review and appraise cases prior to escalating to your line manager
Liaise with other parties such as solicitors, insurers and repairers regarding ongoing cases
**What you need to work for us**:
Experience working in credit hire, insurance or automotive industry
Experience in dealing with RTA claims
A good level of knowledge of vehicles
Excellent telephone manner and customer service skills
Great communication skills both written and verbal and the ability to negotiate confidently
The ability to multitask, prioritise and work effectively to deadlines
A can do attitude and flexibility to assist other areas of the business as required
The ability to make fast, informed decisions
The ability to make effective relationships with colleagues
A working knowledge of Word/ Excel/Outlook and basic IT skills
**Desirable skills**:
Previous experience as a claims handler or recoveries agent, within the motor industry
**Salary**: £26,000.00-£32,000.00 per year
