**Job summary**:
We are looking for a Head of Organisational Change to deliver critical elements of our organisation’s People Strategy including talent management, strategic workforce planning and performance management. The Forestry Commission is moving to a culture of continuous improvement. Expanding our leadership development provision for senior leaders is an early task. As too is building upon recent good work with our middle manager development programme so that all staff have the opportunity for career success and development. Culture change is needed in some areas, and you will work closely with senior leaders and the Forestry Commission's Organisational Development Director to bring about change through development and learning, principally.

Organisational design is key to the role. You will work across the three organisations making up the Forestry Commission to help them achieve the best ways of working, to improve collaboration, removing cultural barriers, aiding flexibility and through structural adjustments help them to identify a seamless way of working which aids effective decision making. Both elements collectively create a place where high performance is the norm and where staff are agile and embrace change. You will support and deputise when required for the Forestry Commission Organisational Development Director across all areas of the Organisational Development portfolio and in the delivery of the Forestry Commission People Strategy.

**Job description**:

- Work with the Forestry Commission Organisational Development Director in delivering the Forestry Commission People Strategy and in particular building organisational capabilities, behaviours, and performance so that the Forestry Commission may deliver its ambitious plans. Ensure all Organisational Development interventions support business needs.
- Develop initiatives to improve culture through:

- leadership of talent management ensuring identification of ‘bench strength’ for the future, as well as plans for its effective future deployment through workforce planning.
- enhancing performance of the management team by providing our senior staff with high quality leadership development. At times you will commission for external suppliers. As well as developing access for senior staff to high quality executive coaching and mentoring.
- Support the Forestry Commission Organisational Development ~Director with workforce elements of organisational changes impacting the workforce or organisation’s shape.
- Produce the first talent management strategy and associated plans for early careers, progression and later careers.
- Engage successfully with the FC’s trade unions on all portfolio related learning and development workforce issues associated with organisational change.
- Working collaboratively with key partners and stakeholders to understand business needs before offering diagnostic learning, development, performance, and organisational design interventions, that will aid workforce transformation.
- Support the Forestry Commission Organisational Development Director and Forestry Commission Chief Executive in designing an organisational form that will deliver for the future, ensuring all necessary steps are taken to engage appropriately, building support and excitement for the changes to come.
- Lead the development of strategic workforce planning across Forestry Commission, anticipating the needs of the business for a ready supply of talented staff from within and outside of the Forestry Commission. Deliver a plan based upon the business plans of individual organisations making up the Forestry Commission.
- Develop a culture with the Organisational Development Director where continuous improvement is the norm, through the review and improvements to the current performance management regime.
- Lead a small team of Organisational Development Manager, Leadership and Development Manager, Change Manager and supporting Learning & Development Advisor. Motivate and encourage high performance to design appropriate Organisational Development support that will help the organisation to meet its ambitious corporate plan.
