This is an exciting opportunity for a Consultant Restorative Dentist to join our Head and Neck team at Gloucestershire NHS Foundation Trust. This post forms part of the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery department. We are a busy head and neck unit offering the full range of surgical treatment including free-flap reconstruction. There are close working relationships between Maxillofacial, ENT, Oral surgery and the Clinical Oncology department. There is an on-site Maxillofacial laboratory and a dental hygiene service. The Maxillofacial department at Gloucester Royal Hospital is housed in a dedicated modern and well-equipped outpatient facility.

**You will**:

- Undertake the assessment and management of the dental health of head and neck cancer patients, liaising closely with the head and neck team to ensure optimal outcomes.
- Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with medical colleagues in other specialties and participate in regular clinical meetings and other post graduate activities.
- Liaise with colleagues in primary care and the community dental service regarding ongoing management of head and neck cancer patients
- Develop and maintain good communications with General Practitioners and appropriate external agencies.
- Have active involvement in Audit and Clinical Governance
- Ensure your attendance at Head and Neck MDT

The purpose of this post is to provide a replacement Consultant Restorative Dentist within the Trust’s Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery service. As a senior employee of the Trust the post-holder will work in close co-operation with, and support other clinical, medical professional and managerial colleagues in providing high quality healthcare to the Trust’s patients.

Integral to the responsibilities of the post are the following requirements:
- To ensure the provision of a first-class clinical service
- To provide effective leadership to all staff engaged in the specialty
- To sustain and develop teaching and research wherever appropriate
- To undertake all work in accordance with the Trust’s procedures and operating policies
- To conduct clinical practice in accordance with contractual requirements and within the parameters of the Trust’s and Division’s services plans
- To maintain the confidence of business plans and development strategies formulated for the specialty, the Surgery Division or the Trust
