The Oxford South Getting More Help (CAMHS) Service are looking to recruit an Assistant Psychologist to the join the team and help make a real difference to the lives of children and young people.

The CAMHS Getting More Help Psychology team have a strong culture of working with CBT, 3rdwave, CAT and systemic practice. We believe understanding the context of the young person is fundamental to our work, and so will often need to work in ways that are theoretically very integrative to meet the needs of our heterogeneous population. You will have the opportunity to support the Psychology provision offered within the Oxford South Locality.

The wellbeing of our Administrative and Clinical staff is top of our agenda; we have an active Wellbeing Team and regular opportunities for staff support. We have a strong ethos of collaboration, shared reflection and team working.
- 6-8 individual clinical cases (depending on complexity & experience / skills
- Joining assessments, initially to observe, but then to contribute (& also taking the lead on the write-up / any follow-up calls that might be needed, unless they are particularly complex of sensitive)
- Weekly supervision
- Attendance at team meetings (& any other types of relevant meeting)
- Attend and contribute to psychology referrals meetings
- Support with managing the psychology waiting list / psychology consultation slots / psychology assessments (including any audit or service development work around this)
- Support with the DNA-v therapy group (an adolescent model for acceptance and commitment therapy) this will include initial admin, sending out questionnaires & writing up the evaluation of the training.
- Time for own admin
- ½ day a week for CPD

The Oxford South Getting More Help CAMHS Service covers a diverse catchment area, that is both rural and urban. Our main office sits within the pretty Market Town of Abingdon on Thames, which is conveniently situated 1 mile from the A34 and 5 miles from the historic City of Oxford.

The successful applicant will sit as part of the psychology team which consists of Clinical Psychologists, CBT therapists and Trainee Clinical Psychologist. There will be opportunities to be involved in our psychology lead group (DNA-v - an adolescent model based on ideas from acceptance and commitment therapy). We are keen to support our assistant psychologists towards a career in Clinical Psychology and offer training to support the development of their knowledge and skill base. In addition we offer regular supervision to develop skills in therapy and research.
