**About The Role**:
Joining the Data Science team within the Marketing division, this role will be part of a team that is using Data Science and analytics to drive both marketing and business objectives. You will be involved in some of our most exciting ongoing strategic projects, including brand sentiment analysis, customer segmentation, supporting the transition to a greener fleet, new product development, and building recommendation systems.

Operating in the fast-paced world of marketing, we have developed models which are helping the business understand customers and their needs and have a comprehensive roadmap which allows the team to focus on innovation, data driven insights and delivering value through Data Science. This role requires an understanding of basic Data science concepts and an ability to build predictive models using python.

Motability Operations has been focusing on an ongoing process of digitalisation over the last few years and is now looking to expand our machine learning capabilities. Foundational understanding of Data Science and machine learning principles will be essential for this role.

We support hybrid working, although regular office attendance will be required at our Edinburgh office (EH12).

**About the team**

The Data science team is part of the Customer Insights and Analytics team within the Marketing division. The team’s overall objective is to use of data and insights to influence the future of the business, with an overarching focus on understanding customers and improving customer experience. **About You**:
To be successful in this role, we’re looking for someone who holds or is currently studying for a degree (or equivalent) in Mathematics, statistics, or similar quantitative field and is able to bring relevant knowledge, ideally gained from their studies. As a Data Science intern, you should be able to demonstrate strong programming skills in Python and a theoretical understanding of the key concepts in Data Science and Machine Learning as a foundation on which to build. You should have strong technical skills to work with machine learning techniques such as NLP, classification and regression but can also work closely with non-technical stakeholders. Strong communication skills are required in this role as you will be partnering with both technical and non-technical teams.

Minimum Criteria
- An undergraduate or postgraduate degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, or a similar quantitative field.
- Foundational level understanding of Data Science and machine learning using python and a willingness to learn more.
- Strong data manipulation and statistical analysis experience.
- Basic understanding of one or more popular BI tools e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Qlik, etc
- Understanding of machine learning techniques such as clustering, classification, regression.
- Experience of working with SQL databases and other data stores. **Desirable**
- Knowledge of Bayesian statistics and Monte Carlo modelling.
- Experience using Snowflake
- Experience using AWS Sagemaker
- Knowledge of code repositories and version control
- Previous experience presenting information to key stakeholders.
