A new post has been developed for Rapid Response Services Cross Bay. The role is to support all pathways aligned to rapid responseto support the ever expanding Multi Disciplinary Rapid Response Teams working across the Morecambe Bay footprint to meet the 2hr Urgent Community Response mandate and avoid unnecessary hospital admissions by utilising the Virtual Wards beds.

Working within a specialty team to manage the urgent emergency care pathways taking into consideration all aspects of that pathway to include:

- To monitor and instigate reviews both in Community settings and in patient’s own homes.
- To ensure all patients are scheduled in a timely fashion according to their clinical pathway and priority.
- In collaboration with the clinical team delivering urgent emergency care, be responsible for the day-to-day co-ordination of the team and data management of the service.
- Continually interrogate capacity and demand data of the service to support decision making and prioritisation of workload and timely movement of patients through the various service pathway

It is essential that the post holder exercises initiative commensurate with the role and that confidentiality is always maintained.

We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community health care premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.

FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.

WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.

All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
