**Overview**:
We are looking for someone to work with our Neighbourhood Planning Co-Ordinator on neighbourhood plans.

If you are interested in working with town and parish councils on neighbourhood planning issues, and show strong organisational skills, this could be the role for you.

By joining us as a Neighbourhood Planning Assistant at Buckinghamshire Council, not only will you be offered a competitive benefits package, you’ll also be part of a new team committed to shaping the future of Buckinghamshire for generations to come.

**About us**:
Planning Policy sits within Policy and Compliance, as part of our Planning, Growth and Sustainability directorate.

Our Planning, Growth and Sustainability directorate work with partners to help shape the future of Buckinghamshire. We deliver services on planning, economic growth, regeneration, strategic infrastructure, transport and property.

The planning policy team is currently working on the new Buckinghamshire Local Plan which is at the early stages of preparation, working across our different services and with our partners to develop an ambitious plan for Buckinghamshire. We are also busy preparing supplementary planning documents to secure quality development and the right infrastructure on key sites allocated and across our area. We are active in supporting many town and parish councils as they prepare neighbourhood plans, as well as ensuring we have high quality development monitoring information in place to underpin all we do.

**About the role**:
As an administrator with good organisational and technical skills and an interest in working on neighbourhood planning, you will support the Council’s neighbourhood planning co-ordinator, making sure we do the right things at the right time as well as assisting with the support and advice provided to town and parish councils and neighbourhood forums. This will involve managing a work flow of all the plans and the stages they are at as well as co-ordinating the input of other teams. Working across the Buckinghamshire area, you will support the preparation of NDPs across a wide range of contexts, from busy urban areas to quiet country parishes.

We want to play to your strengths but also provide the opportunity for you to develop and broaden your skills and experience, and we will provide the right support to help you do that.

**Any-Desk**:
As an ‘any-desk’ worker, you’ll need to be connected to our network to access digital folders and resources, but this can either be from home or an office location when required. You will be required to work from the office a couple of times a week, depending on your role and team requirements.

**About you**:
You will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a high level of personal organisation and excellent technical and project management skills and an awareness of neighbourhood planning and general planning policy. You will need to be** **able to prioritise work and adjust those priorities when needed.

You will have experience of working in an office environment and ideally you will have a degree, but this is not essential.

**Other information**:
For further information on this role please see the attached job summary.

**This is a fixed-term contract until 31st July 2025.**

We operate a hybrid working model - with offices in Amersham, Aylesbury and High Wycombe, there will be times where you’ll need to be in the office - whether that’s for meeting with the team or collaborating with peers - but we actively encourage our colleagues to adopt a flexible working approach and take control of their work-life balance.

If that’s not enough reason to join us, you’ll be entitled to a range of benefits from Buckinghamshire Council including a very competitive employer pension contribution; a minimum of 25 days’ annual leave allowance per year; a flex-time scheme; and discounts in local shops, restaurants, and gyms.
