An exciting opportunity has arisen for a health care assistant to join our dynamic hard working family on Acute Cardiac Unit.
These roles are essential to the experience of our patients, their relatives and carers and they complement the clinical care provided by our doctors, nurses and therapists.

ACU is a 20 bedded acute Cardiology unit which is fast paced, but also an area where we provide level 2 care and strive to continually improve our service for the better of our patients.

We are currently a yellow covid area due to patients coming direct to us from home and due to us providing some of our patients with aeorsol generating proceedures.

Working for our organisation

Our unit cares for patients across the region under-going cardiac procedures and complications of a cardiac nature. The unit operates a 24/7 admission service for patients with Myocardial Infarctions. We also accept patients from other areas and step down from ITU requiring a cardiology bed.

We are Magnet accreditied.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

You will work alongside the nurses, assisitng in admitting our patients, caring for our acutely ill patients and assisting with activities of daily living and providing support to patients and relatives. You will also be expected to assist transferring patients on chairs/trolleys to our step down wards. Cleaning, tidying and stocking up also is a daily task.

- Good basic level of secondary school education. Willingness to undertake NVQ level 2 in healthcare training. Evidence of personal development in previous employment

Communication and relationship skills

Essential criteria
- Physically able to perform the full range of nursing duties. Demonstrate clear and effective written and verbal communication skills. Good telephone skills. Ability to pass on information accurately

**Salary**: The quoted salary will be on a pro rata basis for part time workers.

The system will run a check against the key security features within your documentation. The system will provide us with an outcome of your check which will be stored securely on your personal file along with all other pre-employment check documentation.

- Transfer of information: If I have previous NHS service - I consent to the transfer of my Electronic Staff Record (ESR) data between this and other NHS Trusts. I also consent to the **Occupational Health Department **confidentially accessing my occupational health records from my current or previous employer in order to check the status of my vaccinations, immunisations s and screening tests as relevant to the post. I understand this is an automated process and the information will only be used for these purposes prior to me taking up the position at NUH.
