Following development of our internal staff, opportunities have opened up for 2 Procurement Partner roles that sit within the East Sussex Strategic Procurement Team in Orbis Procurement.

Orbis Procurement is a shared services partnership between East Sussex County Council, Surrey County Council and Brighton & Hove City Council, delivering a strategic procurement service to the partners and a range of District and Borough Councils. Orbis Procurement manages a third party spend in excess of £1.8bn with external suppliers, procuring everything from software to social care services, cleaning products to sports equipment. In addition, our Policy teams strive to work with the Council to leverage our spend for the public good and our Commercial team are helping services manage their contracts and deliver service improvement for our residents. Above all, we aim to be a centre for procurement excellence by ensuring that we manage public money in a way people trust and deliver better value from our contracts in a responsible way.

Our Strategic Procurement Teams provide direct localised support to our customers, providing expertise on tendering activity and contributing to the delivery of service objectives, savings and other benefits, including social value.

The Strategic Procurement Teams in East Sussex, Surrey and Brighton & Hove work closely together, sharing knowledge, expertise and resource to best service our customer’s needs.

The Procurement Partner role heads up a specific category of spend within their partner organisation. The 2 roles we are recruiting for head up the following categories of spend for East Sussex County Council:

- Property, Construction and Facilities Management (FM)
- Health and Social Care (includes Adult Social Care, Public Health and Children’s Services)
- Have experience of leading large scale, strategic procurements, delivering excellent value for money and strong commercial outcomes
- Are confident in managing multiple stakeholders at a senior level
- Have strong influencing skills
- Have the ability to develop and deliver long term category strategies across a portfolio of projects
- Are proactive and able to offer innovative ideas for improvements
- Have strong communication skills across a full range of media
- Have experience in successful leading, coaching and developing of staff

Starting salary £53,126 for 37 hours per week. From flexible working to job sharing (where possible) we are committed to providing a healthy work-life balance. Our flexible working arrangements allow for hybrid working from home and office. You will benefit from 24 days annual leave, rising to 26 days after 5 years’ service (with an additional 2 days between Christmas and New Year), a generous Local Government salary related pension, as well as the option to join our car lease scheme.

Our administrative bases are in Lewes (County Hall), in Reigate (Woodhatch Place) and in Hove Town Hall. Some travel to the other offices is required from time to time.

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is part-time or term-time only.
