An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Asset Performance Advisor with operational and maintenance experience who has excellent understanding of programme management and the asset management lifecycle to join our Devon, Cornwall & Isles of Scilly (DCIS) team.
- You'll manage areas of work to ensure that flood risk assets in DCIS are reliable and resilient. As well as monitoring and programming the progress of work, identifying gaps in the delivery of priorities and taking the necessary remedial action, you’ll be on hand to respond to issues and emergencies. You'll be a point of technical expertise for colleagues, partners and stakeholders.
- The individual roles can be quite varied and are likely to include several of the following:
- Delivery of capital projects & revenue projects, including acting as Area Client by fulfilling our Senior User Role
- Ensuring our assets are maintained and available for operation and planning for abnormal operations
- Act as Site Responsible Officer for key flood risk assets
- Technical leadership, development and mentoring of officers within the team
- Third party asset liaison, ensuring information relating to asset performance is utilised by others to maintain flood protection
- Managing delivery of our maintenance programmes via internal teams and contractors
- Leading on asset data management to ensure we make informed decisions
- Making whole life asset management decisions for our broad asset base
- Managing your own and others health and safety

The team
- Our assets are diverse: from flood and coastal defences to earth banks, walls, pumping stations, flood storage reservoirs and sluices. They require constant management, maintenance and replacement. Our Asset Performance team makes sure that all assets are inspected, surveyed, assessed, maintained and operated in a safe and effective manner to reduce flood risk for people and property. We also ensure that flood risk is managed by others, often inspecting assets and encouraging intervention if required.

Experience/skills required
- You’ll understand and have significant experience in both flood risk and asset management and ideally hold a professional asset management qualification and/or qualified as Chartered/Incorporated Engineer Status. You'll ideally be educated to degree level in a relevant discipline or be able to demonstrate comparable technical knowledge and work experience - we also value experience in the flood risk, asset management and civil engineering sectors.
- You should have knowledge and practical experience of health and safety requirements. Undertaking construction works in accordance with the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 is advantageous.
- Experience of programme management and programming skills is a key attribute to be able to lead on programmes of maintenance, operation and capital works.
- Other key requirements for this job include excellent communication skills; proficiency in data and information management to make evidence-based decisions; the ability to coach and mentor others; and the ability to deliver results through others.

- There are opportunities to get involved with incident management when flooding or environmental pollution occurs. You will be expected to take on an incident management role after a short period of becoming familiar with the patch. Full training and support will be provided.
