**Position Overview**:
We are searching for a highly organised and detail-oriented Transport Controller. In this role, you will be a crucial link in ensuring the efficient and smooth operation of our transport planning function, driver engagement, and compliance.

**Salary**: £30,000 - £35,000

**Shift Patterns**: 7am - 3.30pm / 9am - 5.30pm

**Location**:Onsite - Tyseley, Birmingham - B25 8HE
- Transport Planning and routing for c30 vehicles, ensuring on time deliveries and collections for UK wide, multi drop deliveries
- Ensure that all changes & issues with the execution of the plan are communicated to the Transport Team
- Driver Engagement - develop and maintain driver relations, conduct regular delivery updates and ensure issues are addressed
- Driver Admin - Processing Pod’s for all deliveries, and the completion of the administration tasks associated with the delivery paperwork, including answering POD queries from the accounts department and from customer request.
- Management of driver performance, looking at cost analysis and efficiencies, compliance and infringements
- Drivers - Control & manage the driving resource, monitoring driver behaviour and performance and dealing with or escalating any issues that arise.
- Monitor the use of sub contractors and agency workers where appropriate.
- Collections & Deliveries - To monitor and track collections and deliveries and liaise with customer, driver & other depots.
- Driver Compliance Reports - Follow pre-brief and de-brief process ensuring that all drivers are debriefed daily, corrective actions are agreed and documented
- Control & manage the driving resource, monitoring driver behaviour and performance, dealing with or escalating any issues that arise.
- Review service delivery failures and produce incident reports when required.
- Back haul / back load experience with 3rdparties, with the transport and commercial acumen to price a delivery out and ensure it is costed efficiently according to business needs

**The Person**:

- Strong transport planning experience of multi drop, UK wide deliveries is essential
- Strong geographical knowledge of the UK
- Must be familiar with automated transport routing systems, as well as manual process planning
- Demonstrable knowledge of driver hours and rest periods
- Experience of 3rd party back haul / back loads
- Experience of transport and delivery into retail would be highly desirable
- Strong IT skills
- Ability to work under pressure in busy, fast paced environment
- Team player with a hands on approach
- Proactive approach to problem solving
- Ability to work on own initiative
- Ability to communicate well with people at all levels within the Organisation
- Attention to detail and excellent organisation skills
- Flexible and positive in their approach

Please note, this role will also be expected to do holiday cover for the AM and PM transport planners.
