A P Transport is an experienced, council approved highways contractor providing a vast array of services encompassing groundworks, surfacing, tipper and plant hire. Operating throughout Gloucestershire and into Wiltshire, we are looking to expand our team in order to take on new work and to expand our capabilities.

**The Role - Backhoe Excavator Operator**

We are looking for a reliable individual, with a driving licence, to join our business as a Backhoe Excavator Operator in our patching and defect repair team. This team predominantly works on the Gloucestershire Highways network.

The Team are responsible for various Highway defect repair works including Tarmac surfacing and patching, localised kerbing, footways and minor drainage works. The team consists of five Operatives plus backhoe, HGV and Skid-Steer Operatives where required.

You will be using a JCB 4CX, which is on servo controls and has a hydraulic quick hitch. Due to the nature of our works, you won’t be operating the excavator all day every day. We can be slightly flexible in terms of employment type. You can either be permanently employed, although this will mean that you will need to perform manual labour at times (pushing a wheelbarrow for example) to help out the team on days/sites where there is no excavation required. Alternatively, you can be self-employed and only come in on the days where excavation is required.

The role would suit someone who doesn’t wish to work long or unsociable hours or to stay away from home, or for someone who is looking to work in a less pressured environment than housing sites/pipelines etc. The work is not particularly strenuous and you won’t be flat-out all day every day.

This is a full-time position working 40 contracted hours per week Monday to Friday. There is no requirement for long-distance travel or staying away from home. Night and weekend works are extremely infrequent. We will provide you with all the necessary PPE.

**Location**

You will be based out of our yard, which is located on the outskirts of Cirencester. However, some of the gang live in Gloucester, so transport from Gloucester to site could be arranged if more convenient.

**Qualifications and Experience**

Experience excavating around services and using a backhoe is essential. Experience working with Tarmac and excavating footpaths is desirable.

Other certifications and tickets that would be an advantage are listed below. However, suitable training and development will be provided.
- Streetworks (NRSWA)
- Any Other Plant/Machinery Tickets

**Salary**: £14.00-£17.50 per hour

- 8 hour shift
- Day shift
- Holidays
- Monday to Friday
- No weekends

**Experience**:

- Backhoe: 2 years (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

- CPCS or NPORs (preferred)
- Driving Licence (preferred)
