- ARTS169723The Department of History at the University of Nottingham is looking to appoint a Teaching Associate in Russian Soviet history with particular reference to Soviet politics, society and culture. You will have a PhD in history, with teaching experience at undergraduate level on modern history.

We want to continue to tackle the underrepresentation of marginalised groups in history - whether in staffing, curriculum, research, the public face of history or presence in the classroom. You will be able to demonstrate an ability to make a positive difference to issues of underrepresentation, through your experience, work, ethos, identity, or in some other way.

You will contribute to an exceptional education for undergraduates in history and the Department’s research profile and culture. You will be keen to pursue opportunities for impact, public engagement, and interdisciplinarity. And you will contribute to the administration of the Department - in particular, by championing and promoting Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion initiatives.

As a Teaching Associate you will be expected to:

- Design and deliver modules in history, contributing lectures and seminars within the Department's overall teaching programme.
- Supervise and examine undergraduate students.
- Support tutorial groups, developing their knowledge and learning skills.
- Take a proactive role in the pastoral support of students, dealing with sensitive issues.
- Be responsible for administrative duties.
- Contribute to impact, public engagement, and interdisciplinarity.
- Contribute positively and proactively to the Department’s teaching culture, especially considering issues of underrepresentation in history.

This post will be offered on a fixed-term, part-time basis (33.75 hours per week), commencing 1st October 2023 and ending on 31st January 2025.
