Trainee Tanker

We are currently seeking for a Trainee Tanker (Hub) Operator to join our busy team in Basildon, Essex. This is a great opportunity for someone that is looking for a career in the exciting world of shipping.

No previous experience necessary, however, we do require the successful applicant to be highly motivated, committed and driven, with the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

The position is a vital role in the shipping industry acting at the centre of operations for Customers, Principals and local offices on a global basis.

**Main Duties and Responsibilities**
- Attend to customers’ requirements
- Nomination of local agents worldwide
- Preparing port costs estimates pre and post departure of vessels
- Following vessel movements worldwide
- Data entry as per customers’ requirements into various online systems
- Overseeing and monitoring performance of local agents, and suppliers
- Finalising Port calls
- Preparing, checking and finalising port disbursement accounts of vessels
- Acting as single point of reference to our customers
- Monitoring changes in port situation
- Perform duties through a globally accessible in-house system _**ShipTrak**_ the core business tool of Cory Brothers Shipping Ltd
- Ensure correct preparation and setting up of vessels nominated in _**ShipTrak**_ and in accordance with the customer’s requirements
- Ensure correct completion of Customers Web Portals
- Communicating with customers, Port Agents, Suppliers and other voyage associated parties to meet their requirements and timescales to obtain a quick turnaround at the best possible cost
- Ensure written procedures and documentation is completed correctly as per the customer’s written instructions
- Maintain and monitor Master’s Evaluation Forms and to act/respond where necessary
- Ensure regular supply of Port Information including but not limited to Market Intelligence by Port Agents, to be collated and entered into _ShipTrak_
- Assist the hub Manager in providing regular statistics for analysis
- Be proactive in identifying and implementing cost savings to the customer
- Out of office hours included weekends will be performed to suit customers’ and department requirements. This can be performed remotely if and when required
- File data and perform other routine clerical tasks as needed.
- Perform duties in an efficient, professional and courteous manner and ensure 100% coverage of the workstation.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and managers so as to understand all necessary aspects and needs of the business
- Maintain regular, consistent and professional attendance, punctuality and personal appearance

**About you**
- Minimum GCSE in Mathematics and English Grade C (or equivalent)
- Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels, both verbally and in writing
- Ability to deliver excellent client focused service
- Organisational skills with the ability to prioritise, work well under pressure, meet tight deadlines and maintain focus
- Ability to maintain accurate manual and electronic records and filing systems
- Ability to problem-solve in a timely manner
- Accuracy and attention to detail with the ability to seek ways to improve and promote quality
- IT literacy including knowledge of MS word/excel/outlook
- Team worker with the ability to work collaboratively and able to use own initiative
- Able to work outside office hours.
