Banbury, United Kingdom Oxfordshire County Council Full time

**Job details**:
**Salary range**: £35,745 - £38,223 per annum

**Work location**: New Futures Centre, Banbury

**Hours per week**: 37 - we are open to discussions about flexible working

**Contract type**: Permanent

**Closing date**: Friday 1st December 2023

**Interview date**: Thursday 7th December 2023

**Oxfordshire County Council is committed to children’s social care. That’s not just something we say, it’s what we do and who we are.**

**About us**:
We’ve been consistently rated as “good” by Ofsted, but we are not content to leave it there - we are ambitious for an even better service. At a time when many local authorities are seeing financial cuts, Oxfordshire is seeing significant investments into children’s social care, specifically for frontline services and the implementation of a new, transformational model - Family Solutions Plus (FSP).

We’re transforming the way we help our frontline teams to support our children and families to get the best outcomes possible for each and every child and family we work with.

**About the role**:
The new FSP model creates new, smaller multi-disciplinary teams of professionals, including those who work with adults, supporting children and their families. Our new teams bring together Social Workers, Children’s Practitioners, mental health, substance misuse and domestic abuse workers so that the whole team can address all the issues facing a family.

The new team will carry out all of the assessment and intervention previously done in two separate teams. By doing this we aim to reduce the number of times families deal with different social workers. This helps to promote stability and gives both parties a chance to develop stronger working relationships.

The development of these new teams creates a number of new vacancies. We are looking for Child Practitioners (formerly Family Support Workers) to join our teams as we implement the new FSP model.

The role involves supporting families under the Statutory Team, providing direct work with children, young people and their families and timely support and interventions to address safeguarding concerns and reduce risks to children and young people. It will also involve leading Child in Need meetings and referring relevant evidence-based group programmes to children, young people and families who meet the threshold for the service.

**About you**:
We are looking for someone who is an enthusiastic worker and is passionate about improving outcomes for children and young people. You will have experience of working with children and families and keeping written records.

- Employee Assistance Programme including access to health and wellbeing support
