**Job Purpose**:
To complete the duties detailed below.
- Plans machining by studying work orders, materials, specifications, drawings, and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances.
- Programs CNC machine tools by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation; calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; proving part programs.
- Sets-up machine tools and work pieces.
- Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample workpieces; adhering to international standards.
- Maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
- Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.
- Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
- Documents actions by completing material location plans, metrology reports and routing documentation.

**Essential Skills/Qualifications**:

- Recognised apprenticeship / time served.
- Conventional and CNC machining experience; setting and programming experience.
- Numerate.
- Good verbal communication.
- Coordination.
- Attention to Detail.

**Desirable Skills/Qualifications**:

- Experience of CNC turning and milling components in duplex, super duplex and Inconel materials.
- Experience of Mazatrol / Fanuc / Heidenhain controls.
- Experience of using vernier callipers, height gauges, CMM.
- Mechanical assembly experience.
