**Data Engineer **

**Permanent - Hybrid working - £55k-£65k + Benefits**

**Role Responsibilities**
- Analyse and organize raw data to understand data requirements
- Conceptualize and design data models, including logical and physical models, for handling data at large scale
- Design and development for hierarchical, late arriving, conformed, slowly changing dimensions, version history and error event schema
- Develop, manage, and maintain automated, reusable, and scalable data pipelines (ETL/ELT) using modern cloud data warehouse platforms (Azure)
- Development for full, incremental, and historical data loads and various methods for data load frequencies
- Ensuring the overall data platform roadmap is understood and delivered to plan
- Supporting the full lifecycle of data from ingestion through analytics to end user consumption
- Build relationships within the business, understand our decision-making processes, and identify opportunities to exploit data to enhance decision making
- Taking ownership of branching and pull requests and engage in peer code reviews, ensuring all code deployed meets required development standards
- Constantly look for opportunities to optimize data flows, leveraging new technologies and improve processes

**Required Experience**
- Hands-on-experience in developing data platform solutions using the Azure stack and Microsoft PaaS offerings (e.g.Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Azure Synapse, Azure functions, Apache Spark, Azure Data Lake Gen II, Azure Key Vault, etc)
- Strong experience with at least one of the programming languages: Python, PySpark, Scala, R, Java.
- Experience in building ETL/ELT data pipelines and use of DevOps (CI/CD) concepts to test, schedule, and deploy to a production environment. Exposure to Azure DevOps desirable
- Experience handling different formats of data extracts from desperate source systems (e.g. SQL databases, APIs, XML, etc)
- Extensive experience working with Data Warehouse ETL & BI platforms, with a good understanding of DW strategy, architecture, data modelling, schemas following Kimball methodology
- Understanding of software engineering best practices (unit testing, version control, code review, etc)
