Are you a qualified tree inspector with experience working near roadsides?
Do you have experience working in arboriculture or forestry?
Are you able to identify common tree species and pests by sight?
The Job
You will undertake routine and reactive tree surveys within defined timescales across the county and record all findings and maintenance requirements in the electronic database (HAMS) are recorded accurately and priority for works identified. You will respondand resolve allocated enquiries relating to a wide variety of tree related matters from members of the public, Councillors, and other interested parties, dealing with these issues within the specified time frames. You'll contribute to organised maintenanceprogrammes for all highway tree assets by identifying areas of risk in order to maintain the safety of all highway users
You will also assist with providing a service to external clients to carry out any consultancy or inspection services providing comprehensive reports on tree condition which could generate income for the business. You'll provide support in defending thirdparty insurance claims involving maintained trees on the highway by collecting and interpreting information received and providing detailed and accurate information to support the Forestry officer and the Clients insurance representative. You will comply withall relevant health, safety and environmental legislation and procedures taking personal responsibility for own and others health and safety and welfare which is, or maybe affected by, the work undertaken, ensuring a safe working environment for colleaguesand customers
The Person
Mainly you will be excited to be a part of our environmental projects, but there are just a few other things we’d like from you:
- Technicians Certificate or National Certificate in Arboriculture or equivalent and Professional tree Inspection course level three
- Relevant experience working in arboriculture or forestry preferably working in and around the highway with some practical knowledge
- The ability to identify by sight all common tree species, pests and diseases and have knowledge of biodiversity issues
- Experience of tree/site inspections and report writing using map-based IT systems
- Works efficiently and effectively with colleagues, but also using own initiative with good organisational skills
- Demonstrate a good commitment to providing a safe environment for customers and staff and excellent attitude towards customer care
- Relevant knowledge of best practice within the Industry and issues works to BS3998 standards (British standard for treeworks)
