**The Met Office is delighted to open our advertising for a number of apprenticeships, which will commence in September 2023.**

**What we are offering**

As a Level 3 apprentice, the current starting salary will be £15990.00, in Year 1, increasing to a minimum of £20048.00 in Year 2 in line with National Living Wage from April 2023. Our salaries are reviewed annually and we are currently in the process of reviewing our rates from 01 April 2023.

We expect all apprentices to work in a hybrid fashion and anticipate a minimum of one day a week based on site at Exeter HQ. Please note that any travel costs to the primary workplace location will be borne by the apprentice.

Our Education Outreach Team, Programmes Directorate and Services Directorate are looking for self-motivated, flexible, team orientated individuals to provide administrative and underpinning analytical support, essential to their effective functioning. You will have the opportunity to spend up to 15 months working closely with senior leaders and delivery teams to provide high quality secretariat, administrative and logístical support, and champion new tools and processes to ensure improvements are made, thus enhancing service delivery. Work will be a combination of regular tasks including data analysis, risk management, monitoring and reporting of performance and headcount, as well as ad-hoc project work. It is anticipated that successful applicants will also benefit from the opportunity to rotate between the three areas.

**Job description**:
We would look for you to join us in September 2023 with your apprenticeship training beginning in the same month. Working hours are typically 9am - 5pm and you would have 1 day per week dedicated to your 20% off-the-job training. Working towards the Level 3 Business Administrator Apprenticeship, the training will be mostly delivered online as well as through self-study. Before applying, we recommend you consider if the delivery method suits your learner needs along with whether you feel you are committed to your own development and training as this element forms a significant aspect of a modern apprenticeship.

You will be managed by a line manager and have a mentor to offer further support. In addition to the formal training with a registered training provider, you will also have in house and on the job training

As a Level 3 Business Administrator Apprenticeship, the key duties are:

- Collate and maintain accurate data and records on management information including resources, performance, risk and progress against agreed plans, supporting effective management decision making.
- Provide defined clerical and administrative support (such as organising meetings, taking minutes and chasing actions) to support management.
- Monitor and analyse management information and proactively identify emerging issues and variances, to mitigate risk impact and maximise business opportunities.
- Make recommendations for, and lead on, improvements and changes to administrative working practices to enhance service delivery and reduce risk, both locally and through cross-office initiatives.
- Update, coordinate and issue directorate and group level communications, such as responding to correspondence, maintaining and developing internal communication channels and compiling reports, to ensure staff across the organisation are effectively informed.
- Assist with the planning, organisation and delivery of high-profile events and conferences to ensure they run effectively within the resources allocated.
- Manage the upkeep and loan of a library of resources and equipment, enabling staff to fulfil outreach activities.
- Develop excellent working relationships with colleagues and external customers, underpinning smooth and efficient service delivery and increased growth.
