£13 per hour
MUST HAVE SOME LEGAL EXPERIENCE
JOB PURPOSE: The core focus of this job is to provide a wide range of paralegal support to Legal and Democratic Services. The post holder will be assigned to give dedicated support to the Legal Teams but will be expected to give support across the whole ofthe Legal and Democratic Services.
You will assist with the supervision of work experience students on placement. Participation in performance appraisal (as appraiser) and personal development and training. You will:
Case work
- Participate in team meetings.
- Attend training courses.
- Contribute to the Legal Services Service Performance Plan (i.e the Business Plan).
- Contribute to the development of Legal Services Practice Manual.
You will be required to:

- Manage you own fee earning caseload e.g. agreements, permanent traffic orders, compensation claims etc.
- Carry out Land Registry searches on behalf of the client and other clients
- Under environmental legislation; drafting, processing and completion of temporary road/footpath closure notices, permanent traffic orders and Section 38 and 278 agreements, including liaison with highway engineers and external solicitors
Court Support
- Taking witness statements.
- Liaison with experts/professionals/witnesses to obtain their availability.
- Liaison with Barristers' Clerks to arrange and book conferences with Counsel.
- Arrange for witnesses to attend Court/Tribunals.
- Assistance with preparation of Court documents, information, summonses, bundles etc
- Sealing legal documents for the client and other external clients
- Assistance in the maintenance of the legal library and updating legal reference material.
- Verifying invoices for payment
**Requirements**:

- Familiarity with ICT systems including research tools, internet and time costing systems.
- Council policies and procedures
Experience
- Some experience in a legal environment.
- Use of audio dictation/translation equipment
