An exciting opportunity has arisen for the appointment of a Pastoral Support Worker at Damers First School. The core purpose of this role is to improve the life outcomes, welfare and opportunities for the school’s children and their families. This will be done by providing a range of family support interventions and activities and continue to build upon the outstanding provision of support for children at the school, through programmes such as Emotional Literacy Support and Hamish and Milo.

The Pastoral Support Worker will work as part of the inclusion and safeguarding team at Damers First School to deliver provision of parenting-skills, focused family support and assistance for pupils in school. They will develop the social, emotional and health development of pupils at the school and for their families. This will include giving targeted individual support to families and carers and raising the attendance and punctuality of pupils, as well as providing advice and signposting to enable families to access universal and targeted services. They will facilitate multi-agency meetings to enable positive outcomes.

- Knowledge and experience of work with families who have complex needs.- Knowledge of the roles and responsibilities of statutory and voluntary services and experiences of liaising with them.- Understanding of Safeguarding for children and vulnerable adults.- Experience of working in culturally diverse communities- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills- Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team- Ability to give accurate information and practical support to family members of all ages- Ability to write clear and accurate reports and use regular IT packages.- The ability to reflect on own practice; undertake training advice and constructive feedback.- A commitment to equal opportunities and an understanding of the impact of deprivation and discrimination on communities, families and individuals.
- Ability to manage and organise an effective schedule of work.

This role is UK based and your Right to Work will need to be established as part of the appointment process.

The pro rata salary shown is based on the number of hours and weeks worked and paid annual leave entitlement for an employee under 5 years’ service.

The salary quoted is the annual salary for the position at the time of advert. The salary will be paid in equal monthly instalments and will be adjusted at the start of employment and again if leaving part way through the school year to ensure the correct salary is received for the work completed in an academic year.
