Bristol, United Kingdom University of Bristol Full time

**The role**:
We are excited to announce an exceptional opportunity for an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual to join our team. As part of our research initiatives on Air Quality and Energy Systems, you will work with existing IoT testbeds. These testbeds have been developed under two prestigious Horizon-funded projects, TwinERGY and TwinAIR.

This part-time position offers a flexible work schedule of 20 hours per week, and is available for an immediate start. Join us in this exciting research journey and be part of a team dedicated to shaping the future of Air Quality and Energy Systems.

**What will you be doing?**:

- Undertaking applied, hands-on research and industry R&D on IoT systems used for energy and air quality monitoring.
- Collaborating with research group members and consortium members; contributing to the maintenance of the TwinERGY and TwinAIR testbeds.
- Leading and contributing to the authoring of journal and international conference publications.
- Assisting with general project administration duties, such as the authoring of verbal and written reports and project deliverables.
- Representing the University in project meetings, presenting your work, taking feedback and developing your individual research directions.
- Creating and maintaining technical documentation.

If you are excited about becoming part of an international consortium of partners and undertaking high technology readiness, applied research, we encourage you to apply. A track record in one or more of the following areas is desirable: low-power communications and networking for battery-powered, severely constrained wireless embedded devices, machine learning (preferably with experience in distributed/federated AI or embedded neural networks), and strong software and firmware development skills using Python or C.

Furthermore, you should have a solid understanding of the complexities involved in developing working prototypes of research ideas. Prior experience in industry, the ability to thrive in a large, international team of engineers and researchers, and a talent for building strong and effective relationships across different sectors and levels of seniority are also highly valued. Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing, are essential for this role.

If you are passionate about leveraging IoT testbeds to drive advancements in Air Quality and Energy Systems, we invite you to apply. Join us on this exciting journey and help shape the future of innovative research.
