**Main purpose of the post**

To assist the Senior Surveyor and provide technical support in respect of the Council’s management of its property portfolio. This involves the preparation of land and measured building surveys together with the maintenance of the Council’s GIS land records, whilst also providing a plan preparation service and dealing with general land queries.

**Main duties and responsibilities**
- To act as a Surveyor/Referencer and provide effective technical support to the Strategic Property & Valuation Management team.
- To assist the Senior Surveyor and drawing office by providing technical support to the section via a specialised land and measured building survey service, general drawing office duties and complex legal plan preparation. This will require the use of specialist surveying equipment and software: including AutoCAD, Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and other relevant technical software packages.
- To support the Senior Surveyor in the provision of a comprehensive, accurate and reliable land survey section. The applicant will be expected to have experience in the preparation of topographical and measured building surveys.
- To interpret plans and maps for the purpose of recording and extracting information relevant to the Council’s land terrier records.
- To extract relevant information from the Council’s deed plans and other similar documents, for the purpose of producing complex legal plans.
- To assist in the provision of a land referencing service and the preparation of compulsory purchase schedules and plans.
- To assist in the collation of documentary evidence and plans in connection with boundary disputesand adverse possession claims.
- To produce reports, presentations, spread sheets, charts and letters using the appropriate software.
- To support the Senior Surveyor with the Council’s Japanese Knotweed programme.
- To deal with general land ownership queries as well as procuring maintenance works for the Council’s land.
- To assist with flying the Council’s drone under the CAA guidelines for the purpose of carrying out survey work.
- Any other duties commensurate with the grading of the post required to deliver the Strategic Property and Valuation management service.
