Warrington, United Kingdom Warrington Borough Council Full time

Warrington Borough Council has adopted and adapted the No Wrong Door model of working with children and families who are on the edge of care. We are a dynamic and fast-paced service that is made up of a 6-bedded residential home called "The Lighthouse" and an outreach service that works with families where their child is at risk of coming into care to help them remain at home. Our residential home has 4 short-medium term beds for young people who have come into care following a breakdown in their living situation and it is our aim to prepare them for a more permanent onward plan, either returning to their family, joining a foster family or preparing for supported accommodation if they are 16+. We pride ourselves on our flexible approach and building trusting relationships with our young people and their families.

We have an exciting opportunity for 2 Portfolio Lead/Senior Residential Care Workers to join our experienced team. This is a dual role, involving shifts in the residential home as well as working directly with families on outreach. As senior members of the team, the Portfolio Leads have responsibilities such as mentoring and supervising of staff, shift leading, auditing, and taking a lead on an allocated area of Health, Education, Transitions, Risk, Relationships or Activities both in the home and across outreach to create strong links in the community, access resources and showcase best practice in this area. They help to create a safe, homely and welcoming environment in the home. They also assist the manager and deputies to prepare for Reg 44 audits and Ofsted inspections.

The successful applicant will have experience of working with young people and their families, and preferably will also have experience of working in a residential childcare setting. They will be flexible, resilient and empathetic. They will understand that our young people have been through adverse experiences, which means they face various challenges that they need trusted adults to support them with.

There is a requirement to work some bank holidays, weekends, sleep shifts and lates. Enhanced pay for unsociable hours applies.

All of our staff are trained in therapeutic parenting and systemic practice, as well as bespoke online and face-to-face training relevant to the role delivered by Warrington Borough Council. Successful applicant to have NVQ Level 3 Health and Social care or equivalent, or be willing to work towards.

DBS clearance is required.

The ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post.
