Cordius are working with a market leader in the Aerospace and Military industries based in Whitstable, Kent. They are a leading global interconnect Fortune 500 specialist company, who are continuing to grow and significantly invest in the future.

They are looking for a Strategic Buyer to provide support to the business.

**Purpose of the role**

Responsible for leading all aspects of Sourcing, Tendering, Category Management and Supplier Relationship Management associated with a designated range of category suppliers.
Driving product in, in conjunction with the Tactical Buying team, at optimum cost, on time and to the required quality standard.

**Duties and responsibilities**

Responsible for all Strategic Procurement activity associated with a designated range of category suppliers.
- Tendering
- Purchasing
- Category Management

**Requirements / Qualifications**
- Relevant Degree e.g., Procurement Management, Supply Chain Management, Business or Engineering
- MCIPS Qualified

**Experience**
- Minimum 2 years in an engineering biased Strategic Procurement role.
- Minimum 2 years in a Tactical Procurement role.
- Devising long term commodity strategies to deliver required objectives.
- Working in a fast-paced environment.
- Identifying and establishing strategic vendor partnerships.
- Rationalising supply base.
- Effectively managing end to end NPI’s.
- Leading and driving continuous improvement.
- Implementing world class ethics standards in the field of Procurement.
- Experience of MAPICS XA an advantage.

**Technical Knowledge**
- Excellent understanding of Procurement best practice, with specific focus on Sourcing, Tendering, Category Management and Relationship Management.
- Proficient contract manager able to influence and implement T&C’s and LTA’s.
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings.
- Excellent understanding of world market opportunities.

**Skills and Competencies**
- Strong vendor management skills with a track record of working strategically to improve vendor performance.
- Proven track record of delivering targeted cost savings and committed focus to cost avoidance.
- Skilled negotiator with demonstratable history of delivering win win solutions.
- Ability to prioritise effectively.
- Working with excel and database to be able to manipulate analyse and interpret data.
- Self-starter with the motivation to set, achieve and better desired objectives.
- Goal and objective focused with the ability to see the bigger picture.
- Driven to continuously improve current practice.
- Professionalism in attitude, conduct and communication.
- Ability to coach and mentor peers.
