We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join us as an apprentice to assist in the design and development of an estate as a self-sufficient organic permaculture smallholding.

Hours: 30-40 per week. 9.30am-5.30pm, some flexibility.

As this is an apprenticeship role, you will come to college for training. Please consider how you will commute to and from Plumpton College.

The vacancy is based 3 miles outside of Horsham, so own transport is advisable.

Winterbourne House is a 13-acre estate with gardens, fields and woodland that is currently being developed as an organic permaculture smallholding.
- **What will the apprentice be doing?**_
- Cultivation of soil and maintenance of grounds
- Management and maintenance of extensive vegetable and fruit garden
- Maintenance or newly-planted orchard
- Woodland management and conservation
- Caring for poultry and other livestock
- Assisting with various projects including drainage, irrigation, new plantations, aquaponics, creating wildlife habitats and ponds, etc
- Landscaping and Gardening
- **What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?**_

Level 2 Horticulture or landscape construction operative apprenticeship, including:

- Emergency first aid: Level 3 award in emergency first aid at work.
- Pesticides: Level 2 Principles of Safe Handling and Application of Pesticides Guidance OR Level 2 Award in the Safe Use of Pesticides
- English and maths: Apprentices without level 2 English and maths must achieve level 1 and take the test for level 2 before taking the end-point assessment.
- Training at Plumpton College will be one day per week during term time
- You will achieve an intermediate apprenticeship upon successful completion of your end point assessment

Full-time employment on successful course completion.

**Salary**: £10,004.80-£19,760.00 per year
