Duties and responsibilities:
Opportunities have arisen for roles for Care Workers to work with individuals presenting physical health needs in Machynlleth.
As a Care worker you will be required:
- To enable individuals to complete daily personal care tasks.
- To provide emotional support to individuals and their families.
- To provide practical support for individuals and their families, such as helping with household tasks and paperwork.
- To support and monitor their healthcare needs by administering medication and other simple tasks such as temperature checks.
- To help with everyday tasks such as meal preparation and shopping.
- Supporting individuals to access the community for hospital and GP appointments.
- To work with community health and social professionals to ensure individuals’ needs are being fully met
- Working collaboratively with individuals to draw up care and support plans that are person-centred.
- Monitoring individuals’ mental and physical health needs and keeping accurate records of your observations.
- To have an understanding of the needs of people coming to the end of their life.
- Willingness to work at least two weekends per month.
**Skills, experience and qualifications**:
- Must have an interest in helping other people in spite of their vulnerabilities.
- A good listener who can also demonstrate the ability to problem-solve.
- To be adaptable and responsive to fast-changing situations.
- To demonstrate a high level of patience and be empathetic towards people.
- To have good communication skills and clarity and sensitivity in all forms of conversations with service users, their families, and friends.
- Very good verbal and written communication skills.
- Good listening skills.
- Be able to communicate effectively with Health and Social care professionals.
- Being non-judgemental in all situations regarding individual needs.
- Being a team player and able to work independently.
- Be able to form good and meaningful relationships with individuals and their families.
- Have the ability to manage time in a way that benefits the needs of many individuals being cared for.
