- **Communication Mastery**: Effectively engaging with individuals with dementia, using non-verbal cues, active listening, and adaptive communication techniques to foster understanding and trust.
- **Memory and Cognitive Support**: Employing strategies to stimulate memory recall, engage cognitive functions, and maintain mental acuity through activities, conversations, and sensory experiences.
- **Behavioral Expertise**: Understanding and managing challenging behaviors with patience, compassion, and evidence-based techniques to ensure a safe and nurturing environment.
- **Emotional Well-being**: Providing genuine emotional support and companionship, helping clients manage feelings of confusion, anxiety, and isolation often associated with dementia.
**To thrive in this role, you should have**:
- Previous experience in a home care setting as a Carer
- The ability to communicate professionally and empathetically with elderly or disabled clients, even in challenging situations
- A deep understanding of the needs and vulnerabilities of elderly adults within our community
- Knowledge of food hygiene, manual handling, and health & safety standards
- Ability to administer medications, making a meaningful difference in their health journey.
- Ability to help with grocery shopping and meal preparation based on client preferences
- Be confident when collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams.
- The Ability to maintain meticulous records and documentation
