Oxford, United Kingdom Oxford Nanopore Technologies Full time

Oxford Nanopore Technologies is headquartered at the Oxford Science Park outside Oxford, UK, with satellite offices and a commercial presence in many global locations across the US, APAC and Europe.

Oxford Nanopore's sequencing platform is the only technology that offers real-time analysis, in fully scalable formats from pocket to population scale, that can analyse native DNA or RNA and sequence any length of fragment to achieve short to ultra-longread lengths. Our goal is to enable the analysis of any living thing, by anyone, anywhere

We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join the Chip Development team as a Data Analyst (Programmer), whose primary role is to support Manufacturing Operations.

The Details...
This exciting and challenging role is responsible for providing insight and actionable information, which will be used to monitor quality, investigate issues, and drive continuous improvements in the manufacture of flow cells: consumable devices that performnanopore sensing for direct, real-time DNA sequencing.

Part of the Chip Development team's work is to monitor the performance of the flow cell manufacturing process in response to changes in the procedures or input materials. The Chip Development team also tracks 'in-field' performance of products, investigatingassociations between performance and its manufacture, distribution and use. Much of this is achieved through the analysis of telemetry - data generated by testing and use of products - alongside data documenting how it has been manufactured.

The role will strengthen Chip Development's analysis capability to:

- provide more comprehensive coverage across both MinION and PromethION platforms and across the manufacture and customer phases of the products' lifecycle
- automate analysis processes to improve efficiency and speed of reporting
- detect and classify failures using rules-based and machine learning techniques

Much of this will be achieved through development of tools in Python that can efficiently process, summarise and classify large volumes of data, creating pipelines that connect source databases to dashboards of results.

You will need to quickly establish a strong understanding of the science behind the product and convert data into insights of those factors associated with product performance and failure types.

What We're Looking For...

You will also be:

- Proficient in Python
- Have a good understanding of statistical concepts and principles
- Proven ability to interpret data and understand underlying definitions
- Possess good data instincts (assess degree of confidence in findings, detect data quality issues, identify inconsistencies, filter out chaff)
- Possess excellent attention to detail, be inquisitive by nature
- Have good presentation skills and confidently communicate and interact with multi-disciplinary teams.

Experience in some of the following routinely used technologies is expected:

- Python (Pandas, numpy and Matplotlib/Seaborn)
- MySQL
- MongoDB
- Spotfire/ Tableau
- GitLab

Applicants should be highly motivated individuals who enjoy taking on new challenges, are quickly adaptable in an exciting and fast-paced environment, and who perform well under pressure.

We offer outstanding benefits to include an attractive bonus, generous pension contributions, private healthcare and an excellent starting salary. Based within beautiful, landscaped surroundings with tree-lined walks, water features and a lake, all of whichmake for a wonderful working environment.
