We are looking for a Senior Communications Officer to help us communicate with our staff, patients, the local community and external stakeholders.

The role of the Senior Communications Officer is to support the External Communications Manager with the building of relationships with our local community, the media, patients and external stakeholders through community engagement, corporate communications, press and social media, public relations and stakeholder management.

The postholder will be responsible for supporting a programme of insight-driven and planned proactive communications and engagement activities to ensure effective relationships with patients, the media and stakeholders. They will be responsible for responding to media enquiries and requests and facilitating briefings, press conferences and VIP visits and managing the Trust’s response to Freedom of Information requests.

We are a diverse organisation with people from many different backgrounds and an emerging piece of work will be to enhance relationships with our local community and schools ensuring local people are aware of what we do, become involved in helping us improve the services we provide and the opportunities for careers.

This role is full time 37.5 hours a week, Monday to Friday. However there may be a need for occasional out of hours and weekend working.

The Senior Communications Officer works with the External Communications Manager and the wider Communications Team to promote the work of the Trust and protect its reputation both within the organisation and to patients, the local community, media and other stakeholders.

**This is done by**:

- Creating engaging content for our channels, including social media, website and internal communications.
- Working with colleagues within the organisation to identify potential stories to share with the media.
- Working with journalists to develop potential stories highlighting the work that goes on within the organisation.
- Developing media and social media strategies and plans.
- Monitoring media and social media to understand how the organisation is being reflected in the public.
- Ensuring all communications support the Trust’s culture, mission, vision and values and priorities and objectives
- Developing robust evaluation processes to understand the effectiveness of communication activities
- Working with colleagues across the local health system.
