**Lock Keeper / Senior Lock Keeper**
Working with and reporting to a Shift Manager within a team environment, you will be responsible for operating the lock gates, sluices and fish passes using all systems available, including IT equipment, and to ensure that equipment and systems are fully maintained. In addition, you will be required to operate Pont y Werin Bridge both remotely and locally.

**Duties and Responsibilities**

**Job Specific Requirements**
- To operate the lock gates, sluices, fish pass and associated equipment including Pont y Werin.
- To liaise with employees, contractors and other resources involved in Barrage Operations.
- To prepare reports on any aspect of Barrage Operations, when requested.
- To liaise with mariners, where necessary to ensure safe use of the Bay and navigation through the Locks.
- Ensure the safety and security of members of the public using the Barrage, Pont y Werin and the Bay.
- To help with the management of systems of routine inspections operational procedures, examinations and statutory requirements at Cardiff Harbour Authority.
- To liaise with the maintenance team regarding the maintenance of Locks, Sluices, Fish Pass, etc.
- To undertake or contribute to, as assigned, any allocated cross authority project/assignment in order to ensure its successful outcome.
- To ensure CCTV systems are fully operational and ensure legislative protocols are adhered to.
- To ensure the safe and secure operation of Pont y Werin.
- To assist in maintaining health and safety and fire standards in accordance with Health and Safety regulations
- To participate actively in supporting the principles and practice of equality of opportunity as laid down in the organisation's Equal Opportunities Policy.
- To stand in for and carry out the duties of the Shift Manager.
