My client is a leading Company within the distribution industry. Having been active in the UK for over 20 years. They have a global network and they are looking to expand their team. Assistant Store manager required Builders merchant acumen.
Their London (Greenwich) Store is the newest store in their network. An operationally well organised, sales and business focused assistant store Manager is needed to join their team to build on this great foundation.
Main responsibilities
Responsible for training staff or assist the Store Manager in staff training including warehouse, delivery, health and safety and customer service functions and processes.
Assist the Store Manager in ensuring that appropriate records such as training certificates are maintained, and copies made sent to head office.
In compliance with policies, procedures and the Managers direction, manage all staff on day to day functions day to day, linking operations with the front office staff.
Work with Store Manager and Head Office to effectively recruit for approved positions at the branch level that report to Assistant Store Manager.
Manage the annual staff reviews.
Assist the Store Manager to plan work schedules, holiday requests and any necessary overtime.
Managing Transport and deliveries
Store delivery truck servicing, MOT and repair schedule, daily delivery route planning, use of tracker software to monitor the store truck and driver performance. Minimising cost and being cost effective with any stock deliveries.
Purchasing and stock control
Managing stock, the receiving process, racking and shelving of products, colour coding and mark up of stock, cycle counts, off cuts shelf stocking, scrap, certification filing. Assist with any discrepancies. Always try to minimise waste.
Machinery & processing equipment

Manage store cutting and processing machinery and equipment (saws, guillotines, benders, drills, grinders, Metal Workers etc) including daily/ weekly/ monthly / checks, servicing schedules, maintenance and repairs. Educating staff on how to use new equipmentand training them to minimise waste.
Forklift and lifting equipment
Forklift driving require (will be trained inhouse for this) and then managing the forklift service, maintenance and repairs and the in-store check process. Ensure all health and safety for forklift drivers.

Health and safety
Be the store first aider (training will be provided). Fire safety training and safety procedures.
Store Counter and customer service
Provide amazing customer service and make sure your sales team are following procedures and exceeding customer expectations. Sales administration paperwork and filing including invoicing. Ensure all quotes are followed up with and supervising counter staffwith day to day activities.
General Management
Assist the general manager with reviewing costs and service quality. Make recommendations on budgets. Have an input with business development and hitting targets. Assist with banking tasks when general manager is absent. Hold store keys and open and close store.Bring in incentives to make sure KPIs are met. Assist with all repairs.

**Qualifications**:
A level or equivalent in vocational training or a combination of education and experience.
Excellent communication skills.
Ability to calculate figures
Demonstrate leadership skills and ability to thrive in a busy environment
Manage conflict and multitask.
Good computer knowledge and adaptable to work with multiple softwares.
Driving licenses
MUST have a full UK driver licence clean.
A forklift licence would be desirable but not essential.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Directly supervising 2 to 10 employees including permanent and temporary staff members. This will include warehouse workers and cashier workers.
You will be part of the hiring process for new staff, this does include training new staff members.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; climb or balance and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch,or crawl. The employee is frequently required to lift up to 30KG. The vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Reasonable adjustments may be made to individuals with disabilitiesto perform the essential functions.
