G4S in Wales are a key provider of criminal justice services
- operating in both the custodial and community sectors. We pride ourselves on the quality of our provision and we consistently seek to work alongside and in partnership with a range of other providers in the voluntary (third), public and private sectors.

We have developed services which are focused on identifying ways to maximize positive impact and make the most effective use of available resources by working with other agencies on common objectives. In this way we are increasingly able to meet wide ranging and complex needs in the most appropriate way.

We have a commitment to research, evaluation and review of evidence based initiatives.

We value and, where possible, contribute to research into reducing re-offending and therefore we recognize the importance of understanding the wider environment in which individuals operate and this informs us about how best to engage, support and help people with change.

We seek to employ people with drive and energy and a real interest in innovation and teamwork - working beyond traditional organizational boundaries.

This is an exciting opportunity to support the Dyfodol substance misuse service within Swansea Central Police custody unit and local courts, by providing early intervention support to people who find themselves in contact with the Police. As a member of our EIP team, you will play a critical role in engaging people to access the support they need to build positive futures and healthy lifestyles, and reduce the likelihood of reoffending. Support pathways include drugs and alcohol, mental health, domestic abuse, housing and employment, young people and women services

You will work collaboratively with the Police to identify needs and determine the most appropriate outcome for people to access the right level of support at the right time. You will complete assessments to effectively understand treatment needs, and provide brief interventions to encourage engagement with support services and give people opportunities to make positive changes to their lifestyle. Court work includes providing timely information to relevant professionals about identified needs and suitability for onward treatment in the forms of Drug Rehabilitation Requirements (DRR), Alcohol Treatment Requirements (ATR), and/or Rehabilitation Activity Requirements (RAR).

You will work flexibly across the operational and contract sites, demonstrating good communication and organisational skills to maximise time spent with professional partners and detainees. Days/hours of work will vary to ensure appropriate levels of service are in place to meet demand, including evening and weekend working patterns.
- _Primary base is Swansea Central but there may be occasions where cover is required across Bridgend, Merthyr and/or Swansea. Expenses are reimbursed._

**Key Responsibilities**:

- To engage people with a strength-based, future focused approach
- To work with people in a person-centred way, exploring their needs with safety in mind and tailoring our approach to their engagement style, capability and personal characteristics
- To conduct assessments in a trauma informed way
- To support progression from drug related offending towards a cessation or reduction of illicit use and offending behaviour
- To have safeguarding in mind at all engagement opportunities, including child protection and harm to vulnerable people, and make appropriate referrals where concern is raised
- To encourage immediate access to services & interventions to maximize on the opportunity of meaningful engagement
- To promote harm reduction and healthy living at every opportunity to support the reduction in drug-related harms, including overdose, blood borne viruses, and safer injecting
- To provide interventions focused on the ‘stability, change, resilience’ framework, and positive psychology
- To swiftly identify people who may benefit from clinical treatment, gathering initial information and accessing the online booking system to support people being able to access rapid access clinical services
- To work collaboratively with other Criminal Justice (CJ) partners and non-CJ treatment agencies to support people getting access to the right services
- To develop a good understanding of other support services available, such as accommodation, employment and training, health services, family/relationship support, finance, benefit and debt, to ensure effective signposting
- To ensure all information is accurately recorded and communicated via appropriate case managemen
