Assistant Buyer

Location: High Wycombe/ London

We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Procurement Specialist to join a dynamic team at a leading Facades Sub Contractor. This role plays a pivotal part in our business operations, responsible for managing materials procurement, fostering supplier relationships, and ensuring the efficient flow of resources for our projects.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- **Supplier Relations**: Cultivate and maintain professional relationships with new and existing suppliers. Arrange meetings to discuss product offerings, update supplier files, and negotiate competitive pricing for materials.
- **Procurement Process**: Source materials by sending inquiries, analyzing quotations, and negotiating prices with suppliers. Place purchase orders via the internal buying system and ensure adherence to agreed pricing.
- **Supply Chain Management**: Liaise with suppliers to guarantee timely deliveries and address any urgent or overdue material orders. Keep site staff informed about delayed deliveries and manage plant hire, including off-hire processes and invoice handling.
- **Communication and Collaboration**: Collaborate closely with Contracts Managers, Project Managers, Quantity Surveyors, and the Management team to provide professional and helpful service. Distribute purchase orders and handle queries from project managers. Engage with staff and clients regarding environmental and sustainability requirements.
- **Process Improvement**: Review current practices and implement new procedures to enhance efficiency. Monitor supplier Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and aim to source from preferred suppliers. Maintain an in-house database to evaluate supplier sustainability credentials.
- **Training and Support**:Provide training and support to new team members. Obtain necessary authorizations for purchase orders as per business management system guidelines.

**Skills and Qualifications**:

- Excellent organizational abilities with effective time management and task prioritization skills.
- Meticulous attention to detail in handling procurement processes and documentation.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective interactions with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel).
