**Background to the Post**

We are seeking a Residential Warden to reside in the accommodation one night a week and then a weekend every six weeks at Moreton Morrell College. This will be to cover evening and weekend residential wardening duties and emergency phone cover for students living in our Residential properties. You would operate in a team on a rota basis, with support from Student Wardens.

A key role would be played in supporting residential students with all welfare issues and providing guidance and undertaking recreational activities. There may also be additional responsibilities where under 18 students are concerned under the Minimum Care Standards inspected by Ofsted.

The post holders will report directly to the Senior Warden at the specific site.

Accommodation room is provided free of charge whilst on shift only, this is not a live in position. Hours are paid for while on duty and a call out rate for out of hours while on shift.

Our Moreton Morrell campus offers a centre dedicated to veterinary nursing, as well as a large animal welfare centre. There is also a Construction facility with an open workshop area for brickwork, carpentry and multi-skilling. The working farm on site attracts members of the public to our lambing event that takes place every year.

**Essential Attainments**:

- Must have at least a permanent 0.5 FTE contract within WCG to be eligible.
- Knowledge of National Minimum Care Standards (Ofsted) for Under 18 Students.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Clear understanding of GDPR regulations and confidentiality.

**Desirable Attainments**:

- Full clean UK driving license.
- Experience and knowledge of the duties would be an advantage.

**Essential Skills and Knowledge**:

- Willingness to undertake a minibus test to be able to travel around to places with residential students.
- The ability to work effectively within a team.
- Customer oriented.
- Awareness of safety procedures and to observe them at all times.
- To become a registered First Aider.
- Ability to respond flexibly and tactfully, including changing shift patterns and covering for absent colleagues.
- Ability to relate to both young and mature students, including those from different ethnic origins.
- Empathetic to student needs.
- Friendly, approachable and cheerful.
- Ability to defuse/de-escalate difficult situations.
- Ability to demonstrate an understanding and knowledge of Equality and Diversity.
- Ability to demonstrate an understanding and knowledge of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults.
- Ability to demonstrate behaviours which support the Core Values of the College.
